The song “Down in a Hole” inspired this illustration. I chose a red and white color scheme to create a stark contrast, symbolizing both struggle and resilience. The central figure, with eagle-like wings, reflects the lyric, “But my wings have been so denied,” embodying a longing for freedom. I aimed to capture the aching desire to rise despite the weight of despair, conveying the emotional depth of the song through this imagery.

The Phoenix has always moved me—not only as a mythical creature but as a symbol of transformation, 

rebirth, and resilience. To me, it represents a force of nature that is extremely difficult to extinguish.

As an illustrator, the Phoenix is more than just a bird; it embodies strength and a willingness to press 

forward with renewed energy.

Through this illustration, I hope to capture the beauty and powerful emotions it represents.

This piece was inspired by a WWII documentary and a song with the lyrics "Hush, hush, keep it down now
Voices carry." The idea is that of a soldier being injured and not trying to call out in pain as to not give his group's position away.
